Plexus Haematology is a private practice, dedicated to providing a comprehensive and quality care for patients across Far North Queensland.
The practice was established in 2017 and provides clinical haematology services, research and clinical trials. We provide services for those with blood and bone marrow disorders, as well as the treatment of malignant conditions.

Dr Ketan Bavishi
Haematologist – MBBS, FRACP, FRCPA
Dr Ketan Bavishi graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Gujarat Indian in 1987, before becoming a fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians and the Royal College of Pathologists of Australia in 2008. Dr Bavishi settled in Cairns in 2010 and has over 20 years’ experience in both clinical and laboratory activities including Haematosis and thrombosis. Transplantation, acute and chronic leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, thalassemia, and blood transfusions. Although retaining a broad haematological knowledge, Dr Bavishi has a special clinical interest in lymphoma, leukemia, and myeloproliferative disorders. Apart from clinical works, Dr Bavishi also plays an active role in both teaching and research. He has been involved in many haematology research projects and has published his research internationally. Dr Bavishi has an ongoing passion and commitment in education and working with GPs to ensure integrated care for his patients.
With the exception of DVA patients, we are not a bulk billing practice. Our fee schedule is outlined below.
Should further treatment be required, our medical support staff will provide you with a full fee estimate. If you decide to proceed with the procedure, all treatment costs must be pre-paid 30 days prior to your treatment date. After the procedure, patients will then be provided with an itemised receipt in order to claim back any applicable Medicare and/or insurer rebate.
We strive to give excellent medical care, to help us achieve this, we kindly request that you give us at least 24 hours’ notice if you wish to cancel or change your appointment to allow other patients to be scheduled into your appointment time.
A cancellation fee applies that will equate to 100% of the appointment fee if less than 24 hours’ notice is provided. We will advise you of the exact fee upon cancellation and will send you an invoice. Exceptions will be made on a case by case basis for situations outside of your control.
